Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submission has not been previously published, nor has it been submitted for consideration to any other journal (or an explanation regarding this has been provided in the Comments to the Editor).
  • The topic is consistent with the thematic profile of INNOVAS.
  • The use of generative AI has been declared, where applicable.
  • The proposed article has been drafted using inclusive language in accordance with best practices in gender equality.
  • All authors possess an active ORCID profile and have been included with their identifier.
  • The contributions of each author have been declared following the CRediT Taxonomy.
  • The submitted file uses the journal's official template, is in .docx format, and adheres to the formatting instructions, including the established styles.
  • The figures and tables are cited in the text and comply with the indicated format.
  • References follow the APA 7th Edition style in Spanish and include DOIs when available. Whenever possible, URLs are provided for references.

Author Guidelines

1. Types of Accepted Articles

Original contributions in Spanish or English will be accepted in one of the following formats:

  • Original Article: Presents results of scientific research that have not been previously published.
  • Review Article: Analyzes, synthesizes, and critically evaluates the current state of knowledge regarding a specific topic.
  • Data Article: Describes open-access research datasets.

Please use the Microsoft Word template to prepare your manuscript.

2. Manuscript Structure

2.1. Header

The manuscript must include the following elements, in this order:

  • Article Type
  • Title (in Spanish and English)
  • Authors: Full name (first and last) of each author, accompanied by their ORCID ID in URL format. The corresponding author should be indicated with an asterisk (*).
  • Affiliations: Numbered and corresponding to each author, including the institution and institutional email address.
  • Corresponding Author: Email address.
  • Dates: Received, Revised, Accepted, and Published (to be completed by the editorial team).

2.2. Abstract

  • Maximum length of 200 words, written as a single paragraph.
  • Presented in both Spanish (*Resumen*) and English (*Abstract*).
  • Implicit structure (without headings): (1) Context, (2) Objective, (3) Methods, (4) Results, (5) Conclusions.
  • Written in the third person.
  • Must not include citations, abbreviations, or equations.
  • 3. Keywords
  • Between three and five keywords, in both Spanish and English.
  • Separated by semicolons (;).
  • The use of terms from the UNESCO Thesaurus is recommended.

2.4. Body of the Article

2.5. Mandatory Final Sections

  • Author Contributions: following the CRediT taxonomy
  • Acknowledgments: recognition of institutions or projects that supported the research
  • Funding: indicate whether or not the research received external funding
  • Conflicts of Interest: declare or indicate their absence
  • Appendices (optional): supplementary information
  • References

4. Figures and Tables

  • All figures and tables must be cited in the main text prior to their appearance.
  • They are labeled as Figure 1, Table 1, etc., in order of appearance.
  • Table titles are placed above the tables.
  • Figure titles are placed below the figures.
  • Tables may include footnotes where necessary.

5. Equations

  • They must be cited in the text prior to their appearance.
  • They are inserted using the Word equation editor (Insert → Equation).
  • They are numbered in parentheses in the right margin: (1), (2), etc.
  • Text immediately following an equation does not require starting a new paragraph.

6. Citations and Bibliographic References

  • The APA 7th Edition style (Spanish version) is used.
  • In-text citations follow the format (Last Name, Year)—e.g., (Jiménez, 2025).
  • Only works explicitly cited in the text should be included in the reference list.
  • The use of bibliographic management software—such as EndNote, Reference Manager, or Zotero—is recommended.
  • All references must include the DOI when available.

7. Use of Generative Artificial Intelligence

  • Authors must disclose any significant use of AI tools. This disclosure must specify the type of tool used, its purpose, and the extent of its contribution.
  • No AI tool will be accepted as a co-author.
  • Authors are fully responsible for the entire content of the manuscript—including text generated with the aid of AI—as well as for verifying the accuracy of all citations, data, and bibliographic references.
  • The use of AI to paraphrase text without adding academic value is discouraged, as it may lead to issues regarding scientific integrity or plagiarism detection.
